Adopt-A-Cat Month

National Adopt-A-Cat Month is June! We adopted a cat a few years ago, her name is Fiona.

Around Thanksgiving time my mom heard that people were having trouble giving away one cat, like nobody wanted her. We were looking for a cat and this was the ONE. When my mom brought her home and as we all came up to her Lady, my dog, ran up to her and just started sniffing the box like crazy! We never had another animal before so she was curious.

Since, my mom brought her around Thanksgiving time, we all were thankful for Fiona and I just love her soooooo much!

My Grandpa adopted his cat from The Chico Cat Coalition, it is the local organization that rescues cats from the parks. This cat was rescued and it is so lovable too! I love that cat also. He named his kitten Tiggy II. The reason he named him Tiggy II is because he had another Tiggy who had passed away and he missed him very much. Cats provide companionship for people, especially the elderly. This picture to the left is Tiggy II when he was still a kitten.

You can call your local Humane Society to find out if there are cats waiting to be adopted. If you can't adopt a cat, you can talk to their supervisor about volunteering your time to come play with them. They want to keep the animals family friendly and to do that they need to have interaction with people who are loving. There are other ways you can volunteer too. You can help with their fundraising efforts, be a foster pet parent for the weekends, or in the office too. Our local branch allows junior volunteers with parent supervision, and teens ages 16 and up on their own. You can also become a member by donating to the shelter each month.
