Sisterlisa: A Lifestyle of Ministry

Sisterlisa is the publisher and owner of Growing in Grace Magazine. I still remember the day I received her email with her exciting news that she wanted us to join her in creating a one-of-a-kind Christian girls' magazine that did not reflect the world's value system. With joy, we have served with her side-by-side each month writing, interviewing and publishing GGM. I am excited to interview her for this, the First Anniversary Issue.

Why did you decide to start writing and publishing Growing in Grace Magazine?

Several years ago when my girls were in the Christian Elementary School they struggled in their friendships. I noticed that the girls all had different ideas about what friendship was. I became burdened about writing a monthly publication for them so they could all be learning the same Biblical principles. I began 'Looking Forward' and it ran for an entire year. My hope was to have several girls send in contributions, but not all of them were interested in writing. I ran that publication for one full year, then retired 'Looking Forward'. When we began home schooling the desire came back, and when I found your family, I knew our hearts were going in the same direction. I was so happy and honored your family accepted this opportunity to write with us and offer this free online publication for other girls to grow in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

What is your goal in continuing its publication?
My goal in continuing this publication is to encourage and inspire other girls to grow closer to the Lord as as well as with their families. I feel it is very important to encourage other girls to appreciate their families and build a closer knit relationship with them. I have a deep desire for the Christian population to see what great benefits there are to homeschooling and how God blesses us and our relationships. Among home schoolers I have seen very few actually create a bad reputation for home schoolers, yet that is where the media focuses in on. I desire for GGM to show those Christians that home schooling is blessed by God and see how He works in our lives by what and how we write. We do NOT have to follow the 'Culture of Christianity'. We can create a clear picture of what down to earth Christianity is supposed to be. Between our writers and our readers we have a wonderful support group of ladies who believe in the Christianity God always intended for us to have.

What has it been like for the last year publishing a magazine that has become a favorite with so many mothers and daughters?
Each month I see our email subscription grow and that is encouraging. To me it seems as though God is drawing in those who have the same desires as us, to build upon the family unit. I think that so many times Christians feel alone in their communities wondering where all the other Christians are that have these same desires for the family. I believe God has used GGM to help us all find one another.

Personal
What are the priorities in your life at this season of womanhood?
My priorities have changed so much since we started home schooling. My number one priority is my relationship with the Lord. Without Him nothing else in my life would have a purpose. Secondly, is my relationship with my husband. Since we started home schooling our relationship has become so much sweeter. Having my children home has moved me closer into Bible study than ever before. I enjoy sharing with my husband each day, what God has shown me in his Word. My children are next in my list of priorities. Not only building upon my relationship with each one of them individually, but also as a whole family. Every moment of every day is a teaching moment for us and we all enjoy watching each other growing both spiritually and educationally. I also have ministries that are very important in my life. Of those is GGM, the Sarah Home, and the Deaf Ministry at our church. I have a very full schedule, but I work hard to be sure I give myself to the Lord in each of these areas.

The sanctity of marriage is a top priority for you. What is on your heart about marriage that you want to share?
Most of my readers at AGMinistries know about my testimony. When Mr. B asked me to marry him I made sure he knew that I believed in marriage. I explained that I feel it is for a lifetime and that once I'm married I will not divorce. He expressed that he felt the same way. We are both from broken homes, and we wanted the best we could possibly give to our future children. However, our marriage did not begin with the Lord as the foundation. We both lived in the world and came to Christ later. During the first six years of our marriage, we suffered! Our marriage was nearly destroyed at the hand of the enemy. Our Heavenly Father worked amazing miracles in our lives and redeemed us and our marriage. He 'pulled us out of the miry clay and set our feet upon a rock'. We now have given our lives over to God so that He could use our testimony to help bring other broken marriages back together. We both have a burden to share what God has done in our lives so that others will know the power of His redemption, and that every marriage DOES have a chance to be healthy and full of abundant love.

Family
You have been home schooling for two years now. Describe it for me. What difference has it made in your life?
Well as I said above, it has completely altered our lifestyle. We began home schooling in the fall of 2006, and it's hard to believe it's been that long already! My husband and I both grew up in the public school, and we knew we didn't want that for our children since we came to the Lord. As we were a young struggling newly married couple just coming to the Lord we really didn't know much at all about the Lord nor home schooling. As a matter of fact I have never heard of home school.
We began having our children in the Christian School, and I volunteered as often as possible. Our children have a 3-4 year age difference between each of them. As they grew older their church and school activities began to be separate and our family was going in several different directions. Over the years I had learned a lot about their education while volunteering in the school. As a matter of fact, I pre-schooled them myself and always had summer curriculum to keep their minds fresh.
When the Lord opened the door for us to home school I wanted to know as much as I could about home schooling. I met with a couple of families that I knew had home schooled for many years and asked them a lot of questions. I then hit the library and the internet to find out as much as I could before we made up our minds for sure. My husband was every bit confident in me from the beginning. We began to pray and seek the Lord to be sure it was what He wanted. God confirmed it in both of us during the very same church service. We sat at opposite ends of the church that day, because I was interpreting for the deaf. At the close of the service, I walked over to him and he had a huge smile on his face. I asked him what He got out of the message and he said, "I think that same thing you did." We both said, "Homeschool" at the same time! We both cried! We knew it was what God wanted for us to do! Now our family has grown closer together and we all serve in ministry together.

What fun things do you and your daughters do to tie your hearts together in family and the LORD?
My daughters and I all love to cook and work on GGM. Many times we'll grab the camera as we are cooking and snap tons of shots to share on GGM or on our blogs. We love trying new recipes! We also enjoy stamping stationery and greeting cards. We write thank you notes to other people to encourage them. Most of the time we just enjoy going to the park and hiking, when the weather is nice. We like taking the cameras and stop along the road whenever we see flowers or cute animals.

Ministry
I know you have a passion for ministering outside of your own home. What are the different facets of ministry you are involved in?
We all serve in ministry together. My oldest two daughters have learned sign language and help reach the lives of the deaf in our church. Although my husband has not become fluent in sign language himself, he has come to understand a lot of signs and is able to communicate with the deaf as well. We all adore them so much and are so thankful to serve together in an area we all love. We also help at The Sarah Home, which is the women's ministry within the rescue mission my husband works at. We visit the women each week and spend time with them. We enjoy our summers over there as we can let the kids swim while I talk with the women and help them with their goals and learning the Bible. The back yard is enormous and I can sit on the deck and keep on eye on the kids as they swim. This year we look forward to being able to plant a large garden for all of us to be able to have fresh vegetables this summer.
I believe GGM is also another ministry for us. We have a heart for reaching other families to share how God has used home schooling in our lives. However we want to respect our church's Christian School Ministry at the same time. During the years our children were there we learned a lot. We believe each family should seek the Lord about educating their children. There is a lot to consider when bringing them home. We have a desire to share the wisdom God gave us in our journey to bring our children home.
For our family, we know this is where they belong. Had someone told me to home school during our earlier years as Christians, I would have said no altogether. I was not equipped emotionally, spiritually, nor intellectually at the time. Yet God worked in me all those years and I can see clearly how He has been leading me to homeschooling all this time.

Thank you Sisterlisa, for sharing your heart and your family with us. It is a blessing to hear how the LORD has used home schooling to strengthen your family and is using all that your family does in service to the LORD to keep your family close in Him.

Meekness – Self-control for my Emotions

by Miss Jessica

Feelings, feelings, feelings – will we ever be able to keep our emotions down pat? Continually they confuse and lead us astray from how Jesus wants us to live; and yet, do we actually have control over them? Mrs. March, from the book, Little Women, explained, “It has taken me a good 40 years to learn to control my temper, and will most likely take another 40 years to not feel it.” It is vitally important that we do not confuse the two words control and feel. What’s the difference? Control is not allowing our temper to show and affect us, whereas feel is not bearing any grudge at all. If we confuse the two, we will get frustrated with ourselves for feeling upset and not try as hard as we ought to control ourselves. Having been there myself, I know that you are guaranteed to end up even more annoyed during the very situation where you want to be in control.

But what’s that to do with meekness? A lot of people think of meekness as something like following directions without resistance. Although I believe this is one definition, I’ve recently discovered another meaning to meekness; controlling your feelings. Let’s take this as an example. If a door slams while you have a splitting headache, what matters is your emotional response, and not being controlled by emotion. Proverbs 3:5 says to “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING.” What we feel isn’t always true; we can’t trust our emotions to rule how we react.

We are sinners, and it’s natural to feel the way we do, even if we know we shouldn’t. Refusing to let our emotions rule our words and actions – and showing self control - is the second step to putting out the ‘fuel’ of our emotions. What’s the first step? To pray. “In everything,” Philippians 4:6b encourages, “by way of prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Of course, it’s easier said than done, as most heart-related topics are.

‘Meekness harnesses emotions in order to produce good decisions’, Character First defines. When we are meek, we are forsaking the desire to focus on me, me, me (my emotions) and focus on serving others with all our hearts.

Life's Lessons from The Beaver

By Lady Jess

God created everything so, therefore, we can see him in everything. Everything that he has created was designed to help us through life and teach us lessons. One of those lessons that we can learn from is the beaver. Beavers and their dams play an important role in nature. Here are some things that I learned about them. A beaver dam creates deeper water, which keeps them safe from predators.

It also provides a home and community for other beaver families. It could cause flooding for those around them but, on a positive note, it also filters bad stuff out of the water and it creates a great environment for other animals. Beavers are smart animals. They know exactly where to build their dams, which is near an area with deep water.

They mostly work at night and make repairs to their dam constantly. They are diligent in providing for their homes. Beavers dams can make life inconvenient to some humans, their dams could flood the farm lands. The dams could also make roads, bridges, train trestles, and levees unstable. Beavers don't know this though. They are just working on their own lives taking care of their families the way God created them to do.

Some humans do not respect that. Some humans will kill beavers in order to keep them off their land. It's not the beaver's fault that their normal life, that God created them to live, is inconvenient for some humans. There are other humans who do try to respect their lives. They set traps that safely catch them and then they are relocated to another area. I still think that even though they are not killing the beavers, it's not fair to the beavers to be forced to move to another area. Sometimes fences are built to keep them out of that area before they build their dams there. I can see how God is teaching us through the life of a beaver family. We need to work together on our home to keep it safe from danger. Even though some people might reject you and how you live your life, there are other people looking out for you, and God still loves you.

I hope that you have enjoyed learning a few things from the life of a beaver. What ways do you see God teaching you about family through the life of a beaver?

The Wedding Planner in You

by Sisterlisa

A little girl playing wedding in her room, dresses in one of her mother's older white dresses while pretending to get married. She adorns her curly hair with a veil made out of one of grandma's scarves, and she puts on those beautiful shoes from mommy's closet. While the shoes are several sizes too big, she still wobbles in them as she stumbles across the room and into the hallway to act as if she is gracefully gliding down the aisle. The lipstick she applied to her tiny lips creates a large smile on her face and she holds the floral arrangement from the dining room table. She is well on her way to creating the budget for her father to pay for this unbelievable wedding for her future.

Although some may think this is innocent fun for a little girl to play 'wedding' we must also be careful not set ourselves up for disappointment. It's natural for a young girl to dream of being married one day, but she also needs to be careful how much she envisions of that beautiful day. I remember growing up and my cousin and I would talk for HOURS about the colors we wanted our weddings to be. We had the entire wedding planned out before we were even old enough to have a gentleman in our lives.

I don't think there is anything wrong with imagining planning a wedding, but I do think we need to be wise how much we invest our thoughts in that. Should the Lord tarry His coming beyond your marrying years, keep in mind that your future husband will want to have a part in the wedding planning process. You may have chosen your favorite color for the main scheme of your wedding day and it just may be his least favorite color. Having your dream set in stone in your imagination could cause a rift in the future relationship God has in store for you.

Last year I assigned to my daughter, Lady Jess, to plan a wedding. Yet she was not to plan 'her' wedding. I gave her a projected budget to work with and she had to look in our own town for the vendors needed for this wedding planning project. We attended a bridal fair, which was fun by the way, we got to taste a lot of delicious treats set out by the caterers. ;O) I thought it was interesting that so many people assumed Lady Jess was the bride. Either they thought this fifteen year old, at the time, looked much older or they thought I was too old to be getting married. I giggled every time they asked when her wedding date was.

When we explained that we homeschool and that this was her math project they were so amazed and happy with this assignment. Many of them offered to assist in any way we needed. It was an interesting project, yet I was able to have some very deep conversations with my daughter during those months we planned and prepared for the 'wedding'. It was a time for her and I to discuss what her father and I had in mind in our choice to restore courtship into our family's heritage.

Much to our surprise Lady Jess has been so happy with our thoughts on the topic and has found great satisfaction in knowing we love her enough to set a firm standard against 'dating'. She was relieved that she would not have to go through the popular dating rite of passage that other girls go through. I shared some experiences I had as an unsaved public school girl growing up and I shared some stories of girls I saw grow up in church youth groups. She has been in agreement with us ever since, that she wants to have a proper Biblical Courtship when the time is right.

Imagining a wedding can be an exciting dream, but it can also lead to a rushed relationship with the first good looking guy that sends his eye in your direction. That butterfly fluttering feeling in a girls tummy is one that is hard to ignore. We must be on guard! The enemy himself knows what our weaknesses are and he WILL send that temptation our way if we don't guard ourselves from that. He has his demons watching us as they send temptation our way. Those principalities in the air are looking to find ways to cause us to stumble.
Ephesians 6:12, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. "

1 Peter 5:8, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: "
Having a dream to be married one day is a marvelous dream, but our focus should be on our relationship with the Lord until that time comes. Now as you play dress up with the girls in your family remember where your focus is and give God the opportunity to plan your future. What you have in mind today just may change in the next five or more years. English Muffins
by Miss Hannah

I got up today at 6:00am with Miss Rachel, and we made English Muffins! People eat these for breakfast, you can put jam on it, you can cut the muffin into halves and put it into a pan (after you cut the middle out) you can put a egg in there, and make Muffin Fried Egg. We make those they are very good. English Muffins are very good to eat with breakfast, you can have them with eggs and pancakes and bacon, (or whatever you want). The recipe is good, because we don't have to put much flour in it! We made English Muffins today, we made them for Sunday when Daddy's off of work! We made them for him mostly, they are so good! And here is the recipe that I was going to give you.

English Muffins:
1 package of regular or quick-acting active dry yeast
1 cup warm water (105 to 115)
3 cups all-purpose or whole wheat flour
1/4 cup shortening (or oil)
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoons salt
Cornmeal

Dissolve yeast in warm water in 2 1/2-quart bowl. Stir in flour, shortening, honey and salt until is absorbed and dough cleans side of bowl. Turn dough onto floured surface. Knead lightly just until easy to handle, 5 to 10 times. Roll 1/4 inch thick, adding flour to surface, if necessary, to prevent sticking. Cut into 3-1/2 inch circles.
Sprinkle ungreased cookies sheet with cornmeal. Place circles about one inch apart on cookie sheet; sprinkle with cornmeal. Cover and let them rise for about an hour until light and airy. (Dough is ready if indentation remains when touched; dough does not double.)
Heat ungreased electric griddle. We use the oven, pre-heating it to 375*. We cook them for about 7 minutes on each side of the muffin. The muffins are done the side is a light brown colour. Remove them from the cookie sheets and cool them on a wire rack. Split them in half and serve with butter or jam or both. The makes about 12 muffins.

English muffins can also make an egg sandwich for a simple breakfast - simply make a fried egg and take two halves of an English muffin and place the egg in the middle of the two pieces. You can also use the English muffins to make mini sandwiches of peanut butter and jelly, or turkey sandwiches. Just think of something creative and try it out. I am sure there are many ways you can use English muffins to create a lovely snack or breakfast.

English Matrimonials
by Miss Alyssa

We found this recipe in 'The 50 Best Oatmeal Cookies in the World' by Honey and Larry Zisman. Since then, we’ve made English Matrimonials several times; everyone in our family really likes them!

I have altered the recipe somewhat. Here are the ingredients I used for this batch:

2 cups unbleached flour
2 cups uncooked rolled oats
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup (light) butter
1 cup boysenberry preserves (you can use any kind of jam/preserves~preferably seedless)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Mix the oats, brown sugar, flour, and butter together. Please do not overstir. The mixture should be crumbly.

3. Press half of the batter onto the bottom of a lightly greased 8 or 9 inch square pan. Spread preserves over batter. Press remaining batter on top of preserves.

4. Bake for 40 minutes or as they usually say, until golden brown. Remove from oven, let cool, and cut into squares.

Warning: The preserves inside will be very hot so please be careful.

Enjoy :)!

Remote ConTroll: Fireproof the Movie & The Love Dare

by Sisterlisa

fireproofbanner

Most of us have either already seen Fireproof or were waiting for the public release of the DVD. Fireproof the Movie hit the shelves with a bang last week. I was honored to have the opportunity to interview Miss Erin Bethea at AGMinistries.org before the movie was released. My husband and I saw the film while it was in our town and I was not prepared for the emotions that came forth while watching this inspiring film on marriage.

Now that Fireproof is available for everyone to see in the comfort of their own homes, I highly recommend a box of tissue to be by your side. Kirk Cameron gives an awesome performance as the fire chief husband driven to achieve respect from his wife. Although the film shows the tension between the husband and wife, you won't hear any profanity, nor any physical violence in their relationship. Convincing emotions run high between this couple and may be best suited for mature audiences due to the nature of the main rift in their relationship. As a parent I recommend you view the film before allowing your children to see it. We have decided to allow our oldest daughter to see the film, but are still praying about whether or not to allow the second oldest to see it.

Fireproof is not without comedy relief, as the firefighters learn a valuable lesson in pride. Their Chief teaches them valuable lessons during their work days, while learning lessons himself on life and marriage from a wise co-worker. Firefighting actions scenes bring a sense of teamwork to the film as they work hard to save lives, while his good friend teaches him the correlation between their job and marriage.

The lives of Caleb and Katherine Holt will teach you about the sanctity of marriage and the battle we face to save the next generation from the grips of the enemy's tactics to destroy what God has created for us. Fireproof's filmmakers have created valuable resources created to help guide you through the film and a journey back to the marriage God intended for us all to have.

My husband and I are currently reviewing The Love Dare and have a leather-like bound copy to give away to one lucky reader. Although Growing in Grace Magazine's audience is mainly younger ladies, we know that your mother's read as well. We wanted to make this give away available to as many people as possible. Please be sure to tell a friend about this giveaway. You can help spread the message of marriage redemption by sharing about this review and giveaway to others in the following ways:
Email the link to this article to all your friends and family.

Fact of the Matter: Eating Yourself Out of a Pit

by Sisterlisa

I grew up in the world as an unsaved person, in the public school and very much consumed by how the actresses looked on television. I inherited my hips from the females on my side of the family and when I would compare myself to the other girls at school, I felt big. My self-esteem was as close as being completely delinquent. My family was not health conscious and all my friends seemed to be able to eat anything they wanted and not gain weight. I joined an aerobics class and although I could feel myself becoming stronger, I was not slimming down at all. I figured I must be a reject. It didn't take long before I started forcing my food up after a meal.

Several years of binging and I could no longer control it. Any time I would eat, my body would automatically follow the pattern I had set. I was not losing weight. I was afraid I'd get caught. After I got married, I was able to stop during the time I carried my first child, but as soon as she was born my body got right back to it. I was determined to lose the pounds I had gained during my pregnancy, but what I wasn't prepared for was the amount of control this eating disorder was taking in my life.

I began going to church and attending a weekly prayer meeting with some other people from the church I was in at the time. Week after week we were asked to pray for a girl. We were told it was an unspoken prayer request regarding her health. We weren't sure if it was cancer or a broken limb, we just didn't know. After praying for her for several months she came one Wednesday night to thank us. She stood before us and began to share how an eating disorder had taken over her life and that she was hospitalized. She explained the details of how God delivered her from this 'ugly beast that controlled her'. What she was describing was exactly what I was beginning to go through. It was evident that she had been battling a personal demon and I knew I was headed straight for destruction. Her testimony changed my heart and I immediately stopped! I am thankful that by her testimony I was able to cease from abusing my body like that. however there are thousands of young ladies who do get caught up in their eating disorder that they need to get medical help.

Anorexia-Nervosa and Bulimia are two very serious eating disorders. Your body was not created to starve or vomit up it's food after eating. God created our bodies to process food and use the calories as energy to live each day. When we stop feeding ourselves healthy foods, our body thinks it needs to hold onto the fat that it has in order to survive. So while you 'think' you are losing weight, you are actually stopping yourself from shedding those extra pounds and depriving your body of the energy it needs to function each day. When you find ways to vomit your meals, the acid from your stomach flushes through your esophagus and teeth, eroding tissue from your throat and enamel from your teeth. Tooth decay sets in and you increase you risk of cavities. These are just a few side effects of these two eating disorders.

Anorexia also causes shrunken bones, mineral loss, low body temperature, irregular heartbeat, permanent failure of normal growth, development of osteoporosis. Using laxatives as a form of weight loss wears out the bowel muscle and causes it to decrease in function. Some laxatives contain harsh substances that may be reabsorbed into your system. One percent of teenage girls in the U.S. develop anorexia nervosa and up to 10% of those may die as a result.

The best thing you can do if you feel your health is at risk by being overweight is to talk to your parents and they can help you talk to your physician. Our bodies need essential things in order to remain healthy. Depriving ourselves of nutritional foods is not going to help us become strong healthy ladies. If you believe you are overweight and struggle with high calorie temptations there are things you can do to help.

1. Talk to your parents about your temptations.
2. If you're an adult find an accountability partner, who does not struggle in this area, to support you.
3. Read God's Word and study the topic of gluttony and temperance.
4. Pray for God to help you have the victory.
5. Exercise! Just get up and go outside for a 30 minute walk every day until you can increase your stamina to do more.
6. Refuse to buy high calorie goodies.
7. Avoid soda pop.
8. Drink plenty of water.
9. Eat fresh veggies. In the cooking process of veggies you can lose valuable vitamins you need in order to lose those extra calories you body is holding onto.
10. Eat whole grain breads and grains. White grains have been processed and the nutrition has been removed.

These are just ten tips that I have used in the past and I was able to lose the extra pounds and gain the strength I needed in order to increase my physical stamina to burn more calories. If you think you need serious intervention talk to your parents and your family physician.

Longfellow's Birthday

by Sister Angie

God is the perfect poet…I couldn’t agree more with this famous quote by Robert Browning.
"God gave us the gift of words to be able to fellowship with Him and others, but I think most importantly of all, He created language to communicate the story of Jesus, the living Word. "

Throughout the ages, many have artfully strung words together to create what is called poetry. One of America’s famous poets is Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. His birthday is celebrated February 27th. Born in 1807, he was the second child of eight, born in Portland, Maine. From a very early age, he always knew he wanted to write poetry. His first poem was published in the Portland Gazette when he was only thirteen years of age.

He eventually mastered half a dozen languages and became a professor at Harvard. After leaving teaching he poured his energy into writing. He chronicled American history through poems like The Song of Hiawatha, which was written as a narrative tribute to the Native American Indian and Paul Revere’s Ride which begins,
“Listen my children and you shall hear of the midnight ride of Paul Revere.”
It is a wonderful telling of this famous event in our history which I would recommend to any young lady studying this period of our country. Later in his career he translated Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy.

In 1861, his wife, Fanny, was involved in a tragic accident in which her dress suddenly caught fire. In trying to put out the flames, Longfellow suffered burns to his hands and face. His wife eventually died and Longfellow’s long white beard covered the wounds from the incident, but he continued with his work.

Henry Wadsorth Longfellow eventually passed away at his home in Cambridge in 1882, but is acclaimed as one of America’s most famous poets to this day.

In addition to learning about Longfellow, I would like to return to my first thought of God being the perfect poet. I encourage you to read the Psalms if you want to be inspired to write or simply read poetry. Not only will the rhythm be appreciated, but the content is sure to inspire, minister, and encourage your heart.

Robinson Crusoe Month

by Lady Olivia

February is Robinson Crusoe month. Robinson isn’t a real person. He is just a character from a book. The book is based on a true story though. In September of 1704 Alexander Selkirk, a Scottish sailor was marooned on an island for four-and-a-half years. He stayed there until he was rescued on February 1, 1709. This inspired Daniel Defoe to write the book called Robinson Crusoe.

Do you know how many people God rescued in the Bible? Many! One example is Daniel.

Daniel 6:27, "He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions."
God saved Daniel from being eaten by lions. He sent angels down to shut their mouths and keep him safe. That is an amazing rescue, if you ask me.

God can rescue us from our troubles too. Maybe your family is going through hard times or you and your siblings are not getting along that well. Here lately, God helped me get through when I moved to a new town. I felt uncomfortable and I couldn’t quite be myself, but God helped me. The Lord can rescue you anytime you ask Him to. So just call out His name and ask him for help.

Psalm 118:5, "I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place."
