When I heard that the theme at Growing in Grace for January was peace, I was excited to hear this because it is one my favorite fruits of the Spirit. It is special to me because it is the meaning of my name. I wasn't very sure of this until I saw Miss Jocelyn’s article where you type in your name and it comes up in Hebrew. My name on there meant peaceable and perfect. After that, I was really sure that is what it meant.
The dove is a symbol of peace. In the Bible, a dove was released by Noah after the great flood in order to find land. The dove came back carrying an olive branch in its beak, letting Noah know that the water had gone down and there was land once again for man to live on. You can read this story in Genesis 8.
Jesus is the Prince of peace. Whenever I feel the presence of the Lord I sense this great peace come over me and all of a sudden I feel calm and relaxed. That only comes from Him. You can even feel His peace in hard times.

Thank you for sharing Lady Olivia. Of course, your name is like olive, which is very important in the Jewish life. When I was looking up Scriptures for Gleaning the Harvest, that is one of the things that they were instructed to allow the widows to glean, is the olive tree.
Deuteronomy 24:20When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.
What a beautiful image I am getting of the relationship between this and peace. It makes me wonder what the field harvest and the vineyards must stand for. How beautiful that this represents peace. I know when I was searching for photos of olives, the photos I found were so beautiful.
Jesus spoke many times from the Mount of Olives. I do not believe that it was only because it was the meeting place or central place, because God puts a meaning to everything.
I pray for peace to be in each of our lives in this new year. The peace of God that passes understanding, not the peace that the world gives, for therein lies true peace, in our Saviour.
