Wildflowers in California

There are many kinds of wildflowers and I just love them all! The California flower is the 'Poppy' and is protected by the law. It is the state flower and they want to protect it. The blooms close at night and on cloudy days. Wildflowers are just so beautiful! I have always just wanted to walk in a field full of them! Aren't we all so glad that God created wildflowers?!? When it is sunny, they open and face the sun. Shouldn't we all face the Son? When darkness comes believers close up to darkness, but the light opens their hearts.

They are all just so pretty! In the summer my family takes long drives in the countryside outside our town and take many pictures of them. We use that time for our photography studies in our homeschool and have many pictures of wildflowers.

Here is a poem I write and I would like to share it with you.

Wildflowers any shape or size,
they are all so beautiful,
just like a big surprise!
Poppies, bluebells,don't forget the daffodil,
wonderfully spread all over the hill.

Our Golden Wattle

In Australia, there are many beautiful and exotic flowers across the countries, many native only to Australia and the Asian Pacific. But this one is special to Australians because it is the National Flower of Australia: the Wattle.

Yes, I know, it’s an odd name!

Joseph Banks, naturalist on Captain James Cooks’ explorer’s trip to Australia in the Endevour, discovered this bright rich yellow, exotic flower, which is best known to grow in Australia. After the Federation in 1901, the Wattle was dubbed the National Flower of Australia, and still is to this very day. On the coloured version of Australia’s embassy, you will find this beautiful flower as the background. The First of September has been Wattle Day before it was even the National Flower, but was only formally declared ‘Wattle Day’ in 1992.

Golden Wattles is on of the 900 acacia trees, and is known for its beautiful golden colour and strong scent.

Wildflowers in Oregon

Matthew 6:28-30
“And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all His glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?”

The following types of wildflowers are native to Oregon:
Nodding Wild Onion, Canada Milk Vetch, Common Milkweed, Marsh Marigold, Helen’s Flower, Fireweed, Blanketflower, Bergamot, Evening Primrose, Showy Sunflower, Black-eyed Susan, Blue Vervain, Golden Alexanders, and Smooth Aster.

Rare plants growing in the Pacific Northwest include the following:
McDonald's rock-cress, Gentner’s fritillary, showy stickseed, Kincaid’s lupine, MacFarlane’s four-o’clock, Wenatchee Mountains checker-mallow and Spalding’s catchfly.
